
In Lviv, police detained a 43-year-old man and his 39-year-old wife, residents of the Sheptytskyi district, who posed as officials offering assistance in securing military discharges in exchange for money.
According to investigators, the scheme worked as follows:
- The man pretended to be an employee of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TRC&SS).
- He convinced a woman that he could legally arrange for her son to be discharged from military service.
- His wife collected payments in installments for the fake services.
- The couple received a total of $17,000 through this scam.
Additionally, the woman independently deceived two other victims:
- One gave her $10,000,
- Another gave her 43,000 UAH.
The couple was identified and apprehended by criminal police operatives together with investigators from Lviv District Police Department No. 1, under the procedural supervision of the Halytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office.
The suspects have been officially charged:
- The woman is suspected of committing fraud under parts 2 and 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
- The man is accused under part 4 of the same article.
If convicted, both face up to eight years in prison. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon determine preventive measures for the accused.
