A businessman from Prykarpattia, together with three conspirators, helped conscripted men go abroad under the guise of transport drivers. For the chance to escape to Europe, the dealers took from 5,000 to 7,000 US dollars.
Operatives of the Lviv Department of the Department of Internal Security of the National Police of Ukraine and investigators of the National Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region tracked down a criminal group that organized a scheme to illegally transport conscripts to the countries of the European Union.
The organizer of the illegal business turned out to be a 47-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region, who is engaged in private transportation. In order to implement the illegal scheme, he involved three more men. They entered unreliable information about conscripted men into one of the information systems, impersonating them as drivers who carry out international transportation. Then, on the basis of fake data, documents were prepared for their departure abroad through the checkpoints of the State Border Service in the Lviv region. Enterprising men estimated such services from 5,000 to 7,000 USD.
In order not to attract attention to their illegal activities, the accomplices sought out clients through acquaintances, and took money only from trusted persons, or asked evaders to leave the funds in a pre-arranged place.
The law enforcement officers documented the facts of the illegal activities of the accomplices and during the next roundup, they exposed one of the suspects at the Shegina checkpoint in the Lviv region.
Operatives of the internal security of the police and the State Border Service, with the physical support of the soldiers of the KORD special unit, together with the investigators of the police of the Lviv region, conducted authorized searches of the suspects. In the course of the measures, draft records, documentation, computer equipment and cash were discovered and seized.
Currently, the organizer of the illegal scheme and three of his accomplices have been charged with suspicion under part 3 of Article 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Vehicles used by the conspirators to cross the border were seized.
The perpetrators face from seven to nine years of imprisonment for the crime.
