As a result of the suspect’s illegal actions, the state suffered losses in the amount of over 3 million hryvnias
The perpetrator was exposed by the investigators of the general criminal investigation department of the Investigative Department of the Lviv Oblast Police together with the employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv Oblast under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Defense Sector of the Western Region.
As the law enforcement officers established, the director of one of the Lviv Oblast forestry companies, having previously conspired with other persons, organized the illegal felling of trees on the territory of the forestry company he headed, which caused losses in the amount of more than 3 million hryvnias.
The investigators informed the perpetrator of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 4 of Article 246 (Illegal felling or illegal transportation, storage, sale of wood) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to seven years.
Law enforcement officers are identifying other persons involved in the illegal scheme.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
