Lviv Region Police Increases Road Safety Control

The Lviv Region police are conducting preventive measures to reduce traffic accidents.

Until August 31, police in the Lviv region are implementing a set of preventive measures to control road safety. This is done to reduce the number of traffic accidents, their prevention, and avoidance. There is also a focus on monitoring adherence to traffic rules by drivers and pedestrians.

In the last two days, several accidents resulted in fatalities and injuries. On August 13, on the Striy-Zhydachiv highway, an underage Mercedes-Benz driver lost control, leading to the deaths of two people. On August 14, in the village of Lysynychi, a collision between a Renault Laguna and a Volvo truck resulted in injuries.

To reduce the number of accidents, the number of patrol police crews has been increased in the most accident-prone areas. Law enforcement will identify violations of traffic rules by drivers and pedestrians. Special attention will be given to identifying drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs, violations at intersections, pedestrian crossings, and overtaking rules.

“We once again urge road users to strictly follow safety rules”, the police emphasize.
