Lviv Region Police Exposed an Arms Dealer from Kyiv Region

Lviv region police exposed a suspect involved in arms trafficking.

It was established that a 37-year-old resident of the Kyiv region was selling firearms, sending them by mail to various regions of Ukraine. The suspect was exposed by criminal police operatives in cooperation with investigators and employees of other service units of police department #1 of the Lviv district police administration #1, under the procedural guidance of the Zhovkva district prosecutor’s office.

Law enforcement officials documented several instances of weapons sales by the suspect, including a TT pistol and an AKS assault rifle. Additionally, during authorized searches at the suspect’s residence, police discovered and seized a significant amount of ammunition of various calibers for different types of weapons, bullets, casings, magazines, weapon parts, pistols, a revolver, and other evidence of his involvement in illegal activities. All seized items were sent for expert examination.

The suspect was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and investigators of the territorial police unit charged him with crimes under Part 1 of Article 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.

Pre-trial investigation continues, and law enforcement officials are establishing the origin of the weapons and ammunition. Soon, the court will determine a preventive measure for the suspect.
