
In Sheptytskyi, police detained a suspect involved in the distribution of drugs.
It was established that a 44-year-old local resident stored and sold drug-containing tablets via postal shipments. For his actions, he faces a penalty of up to ten years in prison with confiscation of property.
The perpetrator was exposed by operatives of the criminal police and investigators of the Sheptytskyi district police department, under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytskyi district prosecutor’s office. Law enforcement officers documented several instances of the suspect distributing drug-containing tablets and detained him on May 10 under article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine at a postal office in the city of Sheptytskyi during an attempt to make another shipment. Drug-containing tablets were seized from the ready-to-send package by the police.
Additionally, during a sanctioned search at the suspect’s residence, police discovered and seized several blisters of drug-containing tablets, mobile phones, rough notes, bank cards, and other material evidence of illegal activity. All confiscated items were sent for examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The detainee was informed of the suspicion in committing a criminal offense provided for by parts 1, 2 article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the article’s sanction is imprisonment for up to ten years with property confiscation. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a preventive measure for the suspect.
