Police Seek Witnesses of Fatal Accident on Kyiv-Chop Highway

The police are appealing to the public for assistance in investigating a traffic accident that resulted in the death of two people.

The accident occurred on May 24 around 2:00 PM on the Kyiv-Chop highway near the village of Mali Pidlisky in Lviv district. Preliminary police findings indicate a collision between a Tesla driven by a 57-year-old Lviv resident and a Volkswagen T-4 driven by a 60-year-old Lviv resident.

As a result of the accident, the driver of the Volkswagen T-4 and the passengers in the Tesla, an 84-year-old resident of Lviv district and Lviv women aged 59 and 76, sustained injuries and were hospitalized. Unfortunately, the 76-year-old woman from Lviv and the 84-year-old resident of the Lviv district died in the hospital despite the doctors’ efforts.

Investigators from the Lviv police’s department for transportation-related crimes have launched a criminal case under part 3, article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article sanctions imprisonment for five to ten years with a disqualification from driving vehicles for up to three years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
