Stryi Police Detained Woman for Drug Trafficking

In Stryi, police detained a woman suspected of drug trafficking.

The 41-year-old resident of Stryi faces a penalty of up to ten years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The suspect was exposed by the operatives of the criminal police and investigators of the Stryi district police department, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi district prosecutor’s office, and detained with the support of the rapid response team of the Stryi district police department.

As established by law enforcement officers, the suspect was distributing the drugs buprenorphine and methadone to places of imprisonment via dispatches, and to drug-dependent residents of the Stryi district by ‘hand-to-hand’ method.

Police documented several instances of the suspect’s illegal activity. During a sanctioned search at her residence, law enforcement officers discovered and seized drugs, electronic scales, cash, bank cards, mobile phones, as well as other evidence of her involvement in illegal activities. All seized items were sent for examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Investigators informed the suspect of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogs) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided by the article’s sanction is up to ten years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. Pre-trial investigation continues.
