Four Killed, Two Injured in a Fatal Accident in Stryi District: All Participants Identified

On January 26, a tragic accident occurred on the Kyiv-Chop highway in the village of Tukholka, Stryi district, resulting in four fatalities and two injuries.

Investigators, forensic experts, and other police services from the Lviv region worked at the scene of the accident.

According to law enforcement, the driver of a Volkswagen Passat B5, a 33-year-old resident of the Zakarpattia region, lost control of the vehicle, crossed into the oncoming lane, and collided with a ZAZ bus driven by a 52-year-old Zakarpattia resident.

As a result of the crash, the car driver and three of his passengers – a 33-year-old man and two women aged 32 and 35, all residents of Zakarpattia – died at the scene. The bus driver and his passenger, a 35-year-old man from a village in the Sheptytskyi district, sustained injuries and were hospitalized.

Police in the Lviv region have opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of traffic safety rules resulting in the death of multiple persons. The penalty includes imprisonment for five to ten years with a driving ban of up to three years.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
