Police Detain Offender for Assault at Post Office

In the Lviv district, police detained a man who attacked a post office worker.

On August 5, around 11:00 a.m., the police received a report from a 47-year-old employee of a post office in one of the villages of the Lviv district. She reported that a local resident inflicted bodily harm on her, took a video camera, threatened her with scissors, overturned all the items, and then fled the scene.

Operatives of the criminal police, investigators, and officers from other units of the police department No. 2 Lviv District Police Department No. 2, and fighters from the KORD special unit were involved in searching and detaining the offender. Through the conducted measures, law enforcement officers established the whereabouts of the fugitive, a 54-year-old local resident, and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators from the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the detainee of suspicion of committing a criminal offense as defined in Part 4 of Article 296 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. **The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.**
