In Zolochiv, police detained a 40-year-old man suspected of drug trafficking.
For the offense, he faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property. The perpetrator, who was previously convicted for drug-related crimes, was exposed by criminal police operatives, investigators, and other services of the Zolochiv District Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office.
Law enforcement documented several instances of the suspect’s possession and sale of the narcotic methadone and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after another deal. During a sanctioned search at the suspect’s residence, police discovered and seized drug-containing tablets, communication devices, and other material evidence of his involvement in illegal activities. All seized items were sent for expert examination.
The suspect has been notified of suspicion in committing a criminal offense under Parts 1,2 of Article 307 (“Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogs”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment under this article is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property. Pretrial investigation is ongoing.
