In the Lviv region, a former deputy head of a village council will be tried, accused of abusing his official position.
As a result of the defendant’s illegal actions, the territorial community suffered losses amounting to more than 300 thousand hryvnias during the procurement of counter-drone equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. **It was established** that in 2023, the accused organized procurement at inflated prices of counter-drone rifles and complexes to meet the needs of one of the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He also formed a procurement request for counter-drone equipment, including value-added tax in the cost, despite defense goods being exempt from such taxation. As a result, one of the territorial communities in the Lviv district incurred losses amounting to more than 300 thousand hryvnias.
The perpetrator was exposed by investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 together with operatives from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region, under the procedural guidance of the Galician District Prosecutor’s Office. The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings, opened under Part 1 of Article 364 (Abuse of power or official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, is completed. The indictment has been sent to the court for consideration.
The maximum punishment under the article’s sanction is imprisonment for up to three years, with disqualification from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years, with a fine ranging from two hundred fifty to seven hundred fifty tax-free minimums of citizens’ incomes.
