
In Lviv Region, law enforcement agencies detained an official of “Ukrzaliznytsia” for receiving an undue benefit. This case is significant as it concerns corruption in one of the key sectors of the economy – the energy sector.
It has been established that the head of one of the departments of the PE “Lviv Regional Energy Sales Office” demanded a bribe of 70,000 hryvnias from an entrepreneur to influence officials’ decision-making regarding the expedited processing of permits for connecting to the power grid.
The official was detained by investigators of Stryi District Police Department in collaboration with the SSU under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office. He has been notified of suspicion under Part 3 Article 369-2 (Abuse of Influence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail. The investigation is ongoing.
