Lviv region police exposed an official from the Ministry of Defense who caused the state losses of 5.4 million UAH.
Due to negligent attitude towards military service during the repair of armored personnel carriers, the offender faces up to eight years in prison. The head of the quality control group of one of the military representations of the Ministry of Defense in the western region, a 54-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk, was exposed by Lviv region police investigators in cooperation with the SBU with the assistance of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
In 2023, an agreement was signed between a Lviv limited liability company and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine regarding the repair of armored personnel carriers. The official was supposed to check the condition of the repaired equipment, but he signed off on the completion acts, even though the repairs had not been carried out for an amount exceeding 5.4 million UAH.
Engineering and technical forensic examination confirmed that the armored vehicles remain faulty. Investigators informed the official of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.
