
Official of Village Council in Lviv Region Accused of Bribery
An official of one of the village councils in the Lviv region will be tried for allegedly receiving a bribe. The first deputy head of a village council in the Lviv region demanded and received an unlawful benefit of 4 thousand dollars from an entrepreneur for ‘settling a land issue,’ specifically the division of a land plot and facilitating the corresponding decision by the council deputies.
Investigation and Detention
The perpetrator was revealed by the investigators from the Special Serious Crimes Investigation Department of the Lviv Police Investigative Directorate, together with operatives from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office. In September 2024, law enforcement officers detained the official after receiving the unlawful benefit.
Court Proceedings
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings, opened under Part 3 of Article 368 (Acceptance of Offer, Promise, or Receipt of Unlawful Benefit by an Official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, is completed. The indictment has been forwarded to the court for consideration. The accused faces a penalty of imprisonment for a term from five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term up to three years, and confiscation of property.
