Tragic Traffic Accident in Lviv Region: One Dead, One Injured
The road traffic incident occurred on February 18, around 07:00, in a village in the Yavoriv district.
Accident Circumstances
As preliminarily established by law enforcement, the driver of a Volkswagen Transporter minibus, a 27-year-old resident of the Lviv region, drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a VAZ car driven by a 62-year-old resident of Yavoriv.
- The driver of the Volkswagen Transporter, his passenger, a 49-year-old resident of one of the villages in the Stryi district, and the driver of the VAZ sustained bodily injuries and were hospitalized.
- The VAZ driver died in the hospital from the injuries sustained.
Investigation and Legal Consequences
Police investigators in Lviv have opened a criminal proceeding under part 2 of article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article sanctions imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
