A drunken driver caused a triple accident in the Lviv district

As a result of the car accident, four people were injured, including two children.

The traffic accident occurred on November 12, around 7:30 p.m., on the Ternopil-Lviv highway in the village of Chyzhikiv, Lviv district.

As previously established by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the Mercedes E220, a 38-year-old resident of Lviv, lost control, drove into the oncoming traffic lane, where he collided with the Great Wall Hover car, driven by a 58-year-old resident of the Volyn region. and a Skoda Oktavia car driven by a 37-year-old resident of Zolochiv.

As a result of the accident, the driver of the Skoda Oktavia and his passengers: a five-year-old boy, a ten-year-old girl and a 31-year-old woman – all residents of Zolochiv – were injured and hospitalized.

It was established that the driver of the “Mercedes E220” was driving the vehicle while intoxicated. He is detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the court will soon choose a preventive measure for him.

According to the fact, the investigators of the transport crime investigation department of the Lviv Oblast police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of five to eight years.

The pre-trial investigation continues, law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
