Law enforcement officers informed residents of Sokal about the suspicion of conducting pro-russian propaganda and disparaging statements about Ukrainians and our country

The perpetrator, a 59-year-old resident of the city in Chervonohrad district of Lviv region, was exposed by operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv region together with investigators of police department No. 2 of the Chervonohrad district police department, under the procedural guidance of the Chervonohrad district prosecutor’s office.

During the pre-trial investigation, the law enforcement officers established that on November 10, 2022, while traveling in a minibus, the woman made statements that undermine trust and respect for Ukrainians, as well as cause contempt and feelings of hatred for Ukrainian traditions, culture and way of life. This was done with the aim of inciting national enmity and hatred, humiliating the national honor and dignity of the Ukrainian nation, statehood and sovereignty, Ukrainian national heroes and Ukraine as a state.

This is confirmed by the conclusion of the forensic-linguistic semantic-textual examination.

In addition, the woman spoke obscenely and carried out pro-Russian propaganda.

The investigators informed the perpetrator that she was suspected of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 1 of Article 161 (Violation of the equality of citizens based on their racial, national, regional affiliation, religious beliefs, disability and on other grounds) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – a fine from two hundred to five hundred tax-free minimum incomes of citizens or restriction of liberty for a term of up to five years, or deprivation of liberty for a term of up to three years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years or without such.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
