It was also established that the suspect, a 19-year-old resident of Transcarpathia, was involved in several thefts committed in the Lviv and Transcarpathian regions.
On May 21, the operative line 102 received a message from an entrepreneur that money (proceeds from trade) and a tablet were stolen from his kiosk located on Kulish Street. The intruder broke into the kiosk, damaging the blinds.
Detectives of the criminal police and investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, as well as employees of the Department of Criminal Analysis of the Police of the Lviv Region, were involved in solving the theft.
The law enforcement officers carried out a complex of operational and search measures, during which, with the help of video surveillance cameras installed as part of the “Safe Lviv Region” program, they discovered the location of the attacker and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine at the Main Railway Station in Lviv. He intended to board a train and escape.
The detainee was identified as a 19-year-old resident of Zakarpattia Oblast, who had previously been charged with criminal liability. Physical evidence was taken from him.
Investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Galicia District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the intruder of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 4 of Article 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided by the sanction of the article is up to eight years of imprisonment.
It was also established that the suspect was involved in several thefts committed in the Lviv and Zakarpattia regions.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
