Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office has secured a court ruling for the return of nearly 500,000 UAH of improperly collected value-added tax in Chervonohrad. The court upheld the claim by the Sheptytsky District Prosecutor’s Office against a company that included VAT in the cost of medical goods. These goods were supplied for COVID-19 relief, which under law should have occurred without adding tax.
In 2022, following a public procurement, a contract was signed between the Chervonohrad City Council and the company for the reconstruction of the reception department of the “Central City Hospital of the Chervonohrad City Council”. The contractor violated tax legislation by unjustifiably including VAT in the goods’ cost.
After the court ruling is obtained, the prosecutor’s office will take measures to enforce it in order to return the unlawfully retained funds to the state.
