Border Guards Detected a Trailer with a Destroyed VIN Code in Lviv Region
At the border with Poland, at the Krakivets checkpoint, border guards of the 7th Carpathian squad detected a trailer with a destroyed VIN code. The attempt to erase its history failed due to the attentiveness of the border guards.
Incident at the Border
The incident occurred during the inspection of a Mercedes vehicle with a trailer that was leaving Ukraine. The border guards noticed the destruction of the identification number of the trailer.
Criminal Responsibility
⚖️ Destroying a VIN code is not about bypassing rules but about the path to criminal responsibility. The border guards sent a report about the detection of signs of a criminal offense, for which responsibility is provided under Article 290 “Destruction, forgery, or replacement of numbers of vehicle units and aggregates” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Police officers were called to the scene.
