Border guards uncovered an attempt to illegally import electronic cigarettes
At the Rava-Ruska checkpoint, border guards of the 7th Carpathian Detachment, following information from the detachment’s operatives, uncovered an attempt to import into Ukraine a batch of electronic cigarettes worth about 700 thousand UAH.
Incident Details
- 800 electronic cigarettes were attempted to be smuggled into Ukraine by a Renault minivan driver, hidden in the luggage compartment.
- To avoid suspicion, he additionally camouflaged the boxes with tires and refrigerators.
- The man claimed it was just a parcel from Poland and that he was unaware of the excise goods.
Regarding the violation, border guards passed the information to the BEB department in the Lviv region. The driver faces liability under Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation of excise goods.
