A 52-year-old man was found guilty of robbery (Part 3 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) following a public indictment by the prosecutors of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office.
He was sentenced to 7 years in prison with confiscation of property.
It was established that the convict was drinking alcoholic beverages in one of the villages of the Stryi district.
Being drunk, the man secretly broke into the house of an 87-year-old fellow villager.
When the pensioner returned to her apartment, the suspect attacked her.
He began to twist her hands and demanded to give him the pension that the woman had received the day before.
Taking advantage of the pensioner’s helpless condition, the convict openly stole money in the amount of UAH 4,000 and fled the scene.
As a result of the attack, the woman received moderate injuries.
The man will be in custody until the verdict becomes final.
