Due to the public indictment of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the Court of Appeal left the verdict of the court of first instance unchanged. By the last decision, the 42-year-old man from Kyiv was found guilty of fraud (Part 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 3 years in prison.
Prosecutors proved in court that in September of last year, the convict defrauded a 36-year-old resident of Chervonograd.
The day before, a man rented a non-residential premises with a spare exit on one of the streets of Lviv. He arranged this room under the guise of a foreign currency exchange point.
On the day the money changer opened, a customer came with a large amount of money to exchange.
The figure took the currency and apparently went to the safe in the middle of the room. However, after taking possession of the victim’s money, he fled through the black exit.
In this way, the convicted person illegally took possession of money in the amount of more than 9,000 Euros.
The court agreed with the arguments of the regional prosecutors and dismissed the defense’s appeal.
