A 42-year-old man from Kyiv was found guilty of fraud (Part 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) following a public indictment by the prosecutors of the Frankiv District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Lviv.
He was sentenced to 3 years in prison.
Prosecutors proved in court that in September last year, the accused defrauded a 36-year-old resident of Chervonograd.
The day before, the man rented a non-residential premises with a spare exit on one of the streets of Lviv. He arranged this room under the guise of a foreign currency exchange point.
On the day the money changer opened, a customer came with a large amount of money to exchange.
The figure took the currency and apparently went to the safe in the middle of the room. However, after taking possession of the victim’s money, he fled through the black exit.
In this way, the accused illegally took possession of funds in the amount of 9,100 Euros.
The convicted person will remain in custody until the verdict becomes final.
