Woman from Stryi to be Tried for Drug Trafficking with Passport as Collateral

Prosecutors of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office sent an indictment to the court against a 41-year-old local resident who was engaged in drug trafficking.

The investigation established that the woman bought pills containing buprenorphine and methadone and sold them individually to drug-addicted persons in Stryi and the district. She sold the drugs at home for cash, after making arrangements with ‘clients’ by phone, and regularly changed mobile numbers for conspiracy. For ‘regular clients’, a special program was implemented: drugs could be taken on credit, leaving a passport as collateral. The documents were returned to the owners after the debt was repaid.

Besides selling ‘hand to hand’, the accused also mailed pills containing buprenorphine to prisons. Specifically, to the ‘Zbarazh Correctional Colony No. 63’ and the ‘Lviv Penal Institution No. 19’. However, the recipients did not receive the drugs—they were confiscated upon inspection by correctional facility staff.

During searches at her residence, narcotic substances, tools for packaging them, cash, documents belonging to various individuals, bank cards, SIM cards from different mobile operators, and other evidence of illegal activities were discovered and confiscated. The woman is charged with illegal purchase, storage for sale, illegal sale of narcotic substances, and transfer of narcotic substances to places of deprivation of liberty for the purpose of sale (Part 2, Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
