Court Extends Detention of Suspect in Parubiy’s Murder

The court in Lviv has extended the detention of the suspect in the murder of Deputy Andriy Parubiy.

At the request of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the court has repeatedly extended the preventive measure in the form of detention for the 52-year-old resident of Lviv. He is suspected of killing the Member of the Ukrainian Parliament, Andriy Parubiy. “The suspect will continue to be held without the option of bail,” the statement said.

The man is charged with committing a series of particularly serious crimes, including treason, attempted assassination of a deputy, illegal handling of weapons, and glorification of aggression against Ukraine. According to the investigation, on August 30, the suspect fired eight shots at the victim, leading to his death.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators from the SBU Directorate in the Lviv region. Operational support is provided by the UCR units in the Lviv region of the DSR of Ukraine, the UKR GUNP in the Lviv region, and operational units of the SBU in the Lviv region.
