A 38-year-old resident of a village in Drohobych district has been found guilty of premeditated murder (Part 1, Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) following public prosecution by the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office.
The court sentenced the man to 7 years and 6 months in prison.
Prosecutors proved in court that in March 2024, the accused killed a 53-year-old fellow villager in his home. The two men were drinking alcohol together when a domestic dispute broke out. During the argument, the accused stabbed the victim multiple times in the chest and abdomen, causing his death.
To cover up the crime, the accused buried the body in a garden near his house.
Nearly two weeks later, law enforcement discovered the victim’s body. The search began after the victim’s mother reported his disappearance to the police.
The accused will remain in custody until the court’s verdict comes into force.
The pretrial investigation was conducted by detectives from the Drohobych District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv Region.
