The perpetrator, a 37-year-old resident of Chervonograd, the director of a private enterprise, was exposed by the investigators of the General Criminal Division of the Lviv Oblast Police together with the employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv Oblast under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.
As the law enforcement officers established, the accused took possession of budget funds during the execution of contract works for the reconstruction and completion of one of the schools in the Chervonohrad district. The director of the contractor company made false information about the materials used in the records of the completed works, significantly overestimating their cost. In this way, he appropriated almost 600 thousand hryvnias.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings opened under Part 4 of Article 191 (Empropriation, waste of property or possession of it by abuse of official position in particularly large amounts) and Part 1 of Article 366 (Official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been completed. The indictment is referred to the court.
The maximum punishment provided by the sanctions of the articles is imprisonment for a term of up to eight years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.
