Drohobych District Administration Official to Stand Trial for Land Fraud

An official of the Drohobych District Administration and an acquaintance have become embroiled in a high-profile case involving the acquisition of land plots. The Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office has filed an indictment with the court against these individuals, accusing them of executing a fraudulent scheme.

Investigations revealed that the official enlisted a 40-year-old acquaintance to forge decisions of local authorities. This enabled them to create a land management project for a 2-hectare plot in the village of Dovhe, Drohobych district. Subsequently, this land was re-registered to his accomplice.

Using a similar method, another plot measuring 0.65 hectares was acquired in the village of Novyi Kropyvnyk. Both plots were sold for 250,000 UAH. The total damage to the community exceeds 2.8 million UAH. Additionally, they planned to perpetrate fraud with two other plots worth approximately 3.5 million UAH.

The official is accused of misappropriating property through deceit and using forged documents. His accomplice faces charges of legalising property obtained through crime. The case is being investigated by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court judgment.
