University Officials in Lviv to be Tried for Damages

Prosecutors from the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office have directed an indictment to court against officials of a Lviv university.

According to the investigation, in 2024, a vice-rector organized a tender for a specific supplier with inflated prices. He prepared documents for the purchase of laptops, system units, and educational equipment. He involved the head of the state procurement department in the plan.

The officials acted in collusion, organizing a tender for a designated entrepreneur. They prepared documentation with unjustifiably inflated prices and ensured the signing of contracts. The university received the equipment, but overpaid for it.

As a result, state interests sustained over 1.2 million UAH in damages. The actions of the accused are classified under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of official position by prior agreement by a group of persons, which caused serious consequences.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region, with operational support from the Cybercrime Counteraction Directorate in the Lviv region of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine and the SSU in the Lviv region.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
