Attempts to illegally import undeclared goods across the Ukrainian-Polish border were stopped by border guards together with customs officials at the Sheghini and Smilnytsia checkpoints.
A 35-year-old citizen of Poland traveled to Ukraine in a Mercedes minibus yesterday evening. According to operatives, the vehicle was sent for additional inspection. Subsequently, together with customs officials, the border guard discovered 602 units of new children’s clothing. In another case, during the inspection of another Mercedes minibus, which was followed this morning through the same checkpoint, inspectors found undeclared goods. The 32-year-old Ukrainian tried to import into Ukraine clothes and shoes with brands of elite global brands.
In addition, the “Renault” minibus, which followed the “green corridor” traffic lane at the “Smilnytsia” checkpoint, was checked at the initiative of operatives. In the course of this, more than 50 units of spare parts for the car were found in the luggage compartment, which the 63-year-old man tried to illegally move across the border. At market prices, the estimated cost of spare parts is UAH 160,000.
Protocols were drawn up based on these facts. The goods were seized by customs officers. The amount of clothing assessment will be set additionally.
