In Brody, at the junction of Vesela Street and Sichovykh Striltsiv Street, a road traffic collision involving an electric scooter and a bicycle occurred on 29 October at around 15:40. This was reported by the Zolochiv District Police Department.
According to preliminary information from law enforcement officers, a Ninebot electric scooter ridden by a 16-year-old resident of the district centre collided with a bicycle ridden by a 77-year-old local woman.
As a result of the collision, the woman cyclist sustained bodily injuries and was taken to hospital.
Investigators from Police Station No. 1 of the Zolochiv District Police Department have opened criminal proceedings under Article 291 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of current transport regulations).
The sanction under this article provides for a penalty in the form of a fine ranging from two thousand to five thousand tax-free minimum incomes of citizens, or correctional labour for a term of up to two years, or restriction of liberty for a term of up to five years, or imprisonment for a term of up to five years. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
