Five-year-old boy injured in Chervonohrad as a result of a car hit by Nissan – police establishing circumstances
The accident occurred on 18 July at 18.30 on Chornovil Street in the district centre.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of a Nissan, a 66-year-old Lviv resident, hit a five-year-old boy, a local resident, who was crossing the roadway on a bicycle. As a result, the boy was injured and taken to hospital.
Investigators of the Chervonohrad District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
The police are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
Dear parents! We urge you to keep a close eye on your young children and not to leave them unattended when they are playing outside, especially if they have the opportunity to go out onto the roadway. It will not be superfluous to remind them once again of the rules of behaviour on the road, emphasising the dangers and telling them how to avoid them. As for drivers, strictly follow the speed limits in settlements and keep an eye on the road!
