15-year-old pedestrian injured on uncontrolled crossing in Drohobych

A 15-year-old girl sustained injuries after being hit by a car in Drohobych. The collision occurred on 12 July at around 13:00 on Sambirska Street.

According to preliminary police reports, the driver of a Skoda Fabia, a 74-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region, struck the underage resident of the district centre as she was crossing the carriageway at an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing.

As a result of the impact, the girl suffered bodily injuries and was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Investigators from Drohobych District Police Department have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of road traffic safety rules). The article provides for a penalty of up to three years’ restriction of liberty, with disqualification from driving for the same period.

Police officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident, the Drohobych District Police Department reported.
