In Drohobych, a man died after falling from an attic, 51-year-old acquaintance suspected

In Drohobych, during a drinking session in the attic of an abandoned building, a man sustained fatal injuries. According to the investigation, a 51-year-old resident of the district may be involved in his fall from a height of approximately 3.5 metres. This was reported by the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation established that on the evening of 15 August a group of people set up a “rest area” under the eaves of an abandoned building near the centre of Drohobych. While drinking alcohol, a quarrel broke out between the 51-year-old woman and her 50-year-old acquaintance, fuelled by jealousy.

In the course of the conflict, according to the investigation, the woman pushed the man with both hands. From the push, he lost his balance and fell through the open attic door onto the ground surface next to the building. As a result of the fall from a height of about 3.5 metres, the victim sustained multiple fractures of the bones of the ribcage.

After the incident, those present dispersed, and after some time the man died from his injuries. The next day, his body, covered with a sheet, was discovered by a neighbour, who called the police. Law enforcement officers identified the woman believed to be involved and located her.

Under the procedural guidance of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office, the woman has been notified that she is suspected of intentional grievous bodily harm, dangerous to life at the time of infliction, which resulted in the victim’s death (Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Drohobych District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region. During the investigative actions, a legal assessment will be given to the actions of all persons who were at the scene.

Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt has been proven in accordance with the law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
