In the city of Drohobych on Stryiska Street, the trailer of a Mercedes-Benz lorry caught fire. The Rescue Service received the call at 19:05 on 23 September.
By the time firefighters arrived, remnants of maize in sacks were burning in the trailer over an area of about 4 sq. m, and the flames were spreading to the tarpaulin cover. People had been trying to extinguish the fire themselves before the rescuers arrived.
Thanks to the prompt actions of the firefighters, the flames were prevented from spreading to the entire vehicle and this tractor unit was saved, along with two other tractor units parked nearby. The fire was contained at 19:30 and fully extinguished at 19:34.
Eight rescuers and two units of specialised equipment were involved in tackling the blaze. Specialists are establishing the causes and circumstances of the fire.
