The accident occurred on February 28, at about 18.20, on Sambirska Street in Drohobych.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of a Renault Scenic, a 27-year-old resident of a village in Drohobych district, was reversing and hit a pedestrian, an 80-year-old local resident.
As a result of the accident, the elderly woman was injured and taken to the hospital.
Investigators of the Drohobych District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is up to three years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
