In Drohobych, another unauthorised metal garage installed on land near the Ivan Boberskyi Children and Youth Sports School has been dismantled by court order. The claim was filed by Drohobych City Council, which demanded that the municipal land plot be vacated.
The case concerns a garage at 2a Ivana Datska Street. During inspections it was established that the structure was located on municipally owned land without any permits or legal grounds for using the plot. The owner was ordered to dismantle the garage at their own expense and restore the area to an appropriate condition.
The problem of unauthorised garages near the Ivan Boberskyi Youth Sports School was first recorded back in 2021. At that time, owners of the structures were informed that they needed to provide documents authorising their placement or dismantle the structures themselves, but some of these requirements were not fulfilled.
To resolve the situation, members of the Orkhideia garage cooperative were offered an alternative plot on Viitivska Hora Street for collective garage construction. Some owners agreed to relocate their garages, but certain users, including the defendant in this case, refused the proposed option.
The court concluded that the disputed garage had been installed without authorisation on municipal land and therefore was subject to dismantling. The City Council reminds residents that the clearance of the Youth Sports School grounds from illegal garage structures is ongoing: three garages have already been forcibly dismantled. Once the work is completed, the vacated area is to be converted into a car park for visitors to the sports school.
