According to police, yesterday, March 20, the detainee twice shot the victim in the chest with a homemade firearm during a domestic conflict, causing fatal injuries.
A report on the body of a 51-year-old resident of a village in the Drohobych district, found in the lake, was received by police on March 19. The investigative task force and employees of other services of the Drohobych District Police Department immediately left for the specified address. On the body of the deceased police found traces of a violent death, namely – gunshot wounds. As doctors later found out, they were the cause of her husband’s death.
Criminal police operatives and employees of other services of the territorial police department were involved in solving the crime. The measures taken by the police established that a 44-year-old fellow villager of the victim was involved in the murder.
On the same day, the police established the whereabouts of the perpetrator and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The court will soon choose a measure of restraint for the detainee.
It was established that a domestic conflict broke out between the men that day, during which the younger twice shot the older man in the chest with a homemade firearm, causing fatal injuries.
The issue of notifying the detainee of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 115 (Premeditated Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being resolved. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
