In the Drohobych district, law enforcement officers detained a 30-year-old resident of one of the villages, who is suspected of selling cannabis using so-called “stash” hiding places. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Police.
According to the investigation, the man, who had previously been held criminally liable for drug-related offences, purchased batches of the narcotic substance cannabis, packaged it and sold it to his “clients”.
The offender was exposed by criminal police operatives together with investigators from the Drohobych District Police Department, under the procedural supervision of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office. The arrest was carried out with tactical support from special forces officers and with the participation of a dog handler with a service dog.
Law enforcement officers documented several episodes of unlawful activity and on 29 May detained the suspect under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. During a court-authorised search at his place of residence, they discovered and seized a package containing a substance resembling cannabis, packaging materials and other physical evidence. All items seized have been sent for expert examination.
The man has been served with a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – unlawful sale of narcotic substances. The article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of six to ten years with confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and a decision is being made on the choice of preventive measure.
