
In the village of Hiyche in the Lviv district, a fire broke out in a residential building, resulting in the death of a man. The incident occurred on 24 March at 07:10, when the Rescue Service “101” received a report of the fire. This was reported by the Lviv Region State Emergency Service.
Professional firefighters from the town of Rava-Ruska and members of the local fire brigade from the village of Hiyche were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered that the wooden house, covered with slate, had its ceilings and roof on fire, with the blaze threatening neighbouring buildings.
Before the rescuers arrived, eyewitnesses had evacuated a woman from the house. During the search, the body of the deceased man was found in one of the rooms. The fire was localised at 08:03 and extinguished by 08:37, saving the residential building and two outbuildings.
Five rescuers and one unit of specialised equipment from the State Emergency Service, along with two personnel and one unit of equipment from the local fire brigade, were involved in extinguishing the fire. The causes and circumstances of the fire are being investigated.
