In Khodoriv, a 51-year-old man with a disability, a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region, was beaten and robbed during the night. In connection with this incident, an indictment has been submitted to court against an 18-year-old resident of Zakarpattia, while another participant in the attack is being sought. This was reported by the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, at the end of June this year, in the premises of Khodoriv station, two men from Zakarpattia met the victim and struck up a conversation with him. Later, all three went outside and led the man to a secluded spot.
There, according to the findings, the brothers beat the man from Prykarpattia and then took his bag. After taking all the money from it — 1,760 UAH — they fled, leaving the victim lying near the railway tracks.
After some time, the man managed to reach the nearest house and ask for help. Paramedics took him to hospital. As a result of the beating, he sustained numerous bruises and scratches to the head and body, as well as haemorrhages in the whites of both eyes.
Law enforcement officers identified those involved in the attack and located one of the brothers, while the other is currently wanted. The 18-year-old man from Zakarpattia has been charged with robbery committed by a group of persons acting in prior conspiracy, carried out under martial law (Part 4, Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Stryi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
