Law enforcement officers in the Lviv region have detained a 56-year-old resident of Horodok suspected of murdering a 44-year-old host during a domestic dispute. The suspect, who previously had a criminal record for inflicting serious bodily injuries, strangled the victim during an argument.
Crime Investigation
During a drinking session, an argument broke out between the victim and his guest. Amid the conflict, the guest strangled the homeowner and fled the scene.
Using the “Safe Lviv Region” video surveillance system, police tracked the suspect’s whereabouts and detained him on January 3 under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Legal Proceedings
Investigators from the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office, charged the suspect under Article 115, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (premeditated murder).
The article carries a penalty of 7 to 15 years in prison. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court is expected to determine the suspect’s preventive measure shortly.
