In the town of Khyriv in Sambir district, an underage motorcycle rider and passenger were injured in a road traffic accident. This was reported by the Sambir District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
The accident occurred on 16 August at around 23:40 on Sichovykh Striltsiv Street. According to preliminary information from law enforcement officers, a 16-year-old district resident, riding a Kovi 250 motorcycle, lost control, drove onto the roadside and collided with a kerb.
As a result of the accident, the motorcycle rider and his 14-year-old passenger, a resident of Sambir district, sustained bodily injuries. Both teenagers were taken to hospital.
Investigators of Police Station No.1 of the Sambir District Police Department have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of road traffic safety rules. The article provides for a penalty of up to three years’ restriction of liberty with disqualification from driving vehicles for up to three years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
