
A tragic traffic accident occurred on January 11 around 12:30 PM in the town of Krakovets, Yavoriv district, Lviv region. According to preliminary police findings, a Mercedes-Benz minibus collided with a Volvo truck. Both vehicles were driven by 38-year-old men.
As a result of the collision, a 34-year-old female passenger of the minibus died at the scene from her injuries. Five other passengers, aged between 18 and 61, sustained various bodily injuries and were taken to medical facilities for treatment.
Investigators from the Lviv region’s transport crime investigation unit have opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules leading to death. The article provides for imprisonment from three to eight years and may include revocation of driving privileges for up to three years.
Police are currently investigating the full circumstances of the crash. The personal details of the drivers and the injured are being clarified.
