Law enforcement officers found that during a domestic conflict, the detainee stabbed his victim more than ten times and fled the scene. He faces up to fifteen years in prison for his crime.
On May 6, paramedics reported to the 102 operational line that they had found the body of a man with signs of violent death when they arrived at a village in Lviv district.
The investigative team of the Police Department No. 3 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, as well as forensic specialists from the Lviv Police, were working at the scene. Law enforcers identified the deceased as a local resident aged 50, who had more than ten stab wounds on his body.
Criminal police operatives, investigators and officers of other services of the territorial police unit were involved in solving the crime. The measures taken established that on that day the victim was visited by a neighbor of the same age. The men drank alcohol and around 16.00 a conflict arose between them, during which the guest stabbed the host numerous times, causing fatal injuries. He then covered the body and fled the scene. Soon after, the victim’s mother returned home and called an ambulance to the scene.
Law enforcement officers established the location of the attacker and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office, served the detainee a notice of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 115 (Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years.
