Tragedy on the Railway in Lviv District
Following a hit by an electric locomotive in Lviv district, a man has died – law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
Details of the Incident
The road traffic incident occurred on April 2, around 11:00 PM, on the ‘Shchyrets-Mykolaiv’ railway section near the village of Cherkasy in Lviv district.
As preliminarily established by law enforcement, the ‘Truskavets-Kyiv’ electric locomotive hit a 35-year-old resident of one of the district’s villages, who was lying on the railway track.
From the injuries sustained, the man died at the scene.
Investigation
Based on the fact, investigators from Police Department No. 3 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 have initiated criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 276 (Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of railway, water, or air transport) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years.
