
In the Lviv region, police detained an offender who brutally beat and stabbed an acquaintance. The victim is in intensive care with serious injuries. The detainee faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to eight years. Both were wanted for unauthorized absence from the place of service.
Law enforcement officers found that on October 14, in one of the villages in the Lviv district, a conflict arose between a 51-year-old local resident and his 35-year-old fellow villager, who was visiting him. During the conflict, the guest severely beat the host and inflicted several knife wounds on him.
After the conflict, the wounded man stayed at home for several days, but on October 16, when his condition worsened, neighbors called an ambulance for him. Doctors diagnosed the patient with, among other things, penetrating stab wounds to the chest, a brain stroke, and other bodily injuries and reported the incident to the police. The man is currently in intensive care.
Through their efforts, operatives of the criminal police, investigators, and staff of other services of police department No.1 of the Lviv district police department No.1 identified the offender and the next day, October 17, detained him according to art. 615 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv specialized prosecutor’s office in the defense sector of the Western region, notified the offender of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – imprisonment for a term of five to eight years. It was also established that both the victim and the suspect were wanted for unauthorized absence from the place of service. The pre-trial investigation continues.
