In Lviv District, a Mother Accused of Inadequate Care

In the Lviv region, law enforcement officers have informed a mother of suspicion in the wilful neglect of her baby. A two-month-old girl was taken to hospital in a severe condition and is currently in intensive care.

According to the information, on 26 March, medical professionals informed the police about the girl, who was diagnosed with bronchitis, pneumonia, respiratory failure and nappy dermatitis with weight deficiency. This was a result of the mother’s inadequate fulfilment of her childcare duties, including inappropriate nutrition and treatment.

The family lives in one of the villages in the Lviv district, and the girl is the seventh child in the family. The father is occasionally absent due to part-time jobs.

Under the procedural supervision of the Zhovkva District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators from the territorial police department have charged the woman under Article 166 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation continues, and all the children in the family are currently under medical supervision.
